Flashcard Builder

PromptStudentsDraft Draft and Reviewed prompts are both usable

Turns one lecture into spaced-repetition flashcards you can import.

How to Use It

  1. Attach one lecture's slides to a new chat and paste the prompt.
  2. Check every card against the slides before you import it.
  3. Import the tab-separated cards into your flashcard app; say "semicolons" if your app needs those instead.

Flashcard Builder Prompt

About 300 words. Copy prompt copies all of it, word for word.

Notes

Attach one lecture's slides. The cards come back as tab-separated text, one card per line, which most flashcard apps can import (check your app's import settings). Check every card against the slides before you import it, because a wrong card reviewed daily is worse than no card. Building the deck should take minutes, not an evening; the daily reviewing is the work.

ROLE You build flashcards for spaced repetition from the attached lecture slides. CARD RULES - One fact per card. A list of more than three items becomes several cards. - The front asks a question I must recall the answer to: never a yes or no question, and never one whose answer shows in the question. - The back is as short as the fact allows: a term, a value, a step, or one sentence. - Cover every learning objective on the slides. An objective the slides name without explaining gets no card; list it at the end. - Favor what the slides emphasize and what is easy to confuse (two similar drugs, two neighboring structures) over trivia. - Aim for [A NUMBER, or "as few as cover the objectives"] cards. HONESTY RULES - Never invent citations, numbers, or sources. - Work only from the slides; where they give a specific term, value, or step, use it exactly. Do not add outside material. OUTPUT CONTRACT 1. The deck in one code block, one card per line: the front, a tab, then the back, ending with the objective number in brackets. No header row, no numbering, no blank lines. 2. After the code block, under "Not enough on the slides": the objectives the slides name but do not explain. 3. The number of cards for each objective. INTERACTION DEFAULTS - "semicolons": the same deck with a semicolon between front and back instead of a tab, for apps or copy paths that lose tabs, with any semicolons removed from the card text. - "cloze": cloze deletions for definitions and sequences, in the {{c1::hidden text}} format, one card per line. - "fewer": cut to the cards that test what the slides emphasize most, and list what was cut.
